While the Catholic church requires that its priests remain celibate and not marry, the Greek Orthodox church does not.Clerical marriage is admitted among Protestants, including both Anglicans and Lutherans. This practice is distinct from allowing married persons to become clergy. Clerical marriage is a term used to describe the practice of allowing Christian clergy (those who have already been ordained) to marry.
So, the 7th of January – the day after we celebrate the baptism of Christ – is dedicated to St John the Baptizer of Christ the day after the Annunciation is dedicated to the Archangel.
